Model History
Presented in 2019, the Odysseus marks a turning point for a brand built almost entirely on precious-metal dress watches: it's the first Lange model conceived from the outset as a sports watch, and the first produced consistently in steel rather than gold or platinum.
The dial, in blue or grey brass, carries the brand's signature outsize date alongside a day-of-the-week display, both quick-set — Lange's stylistic hallmark applied to a more casual format. The movement is calibre L155.1, automatic: one of the brand's very few automatic calibres, historically a specialist in hand-wound movements. The integrated steel bracelet, with individually adjustable links, completes the sporty character of the whole.
The name recalls the Homeric hero and his long journey, in keeping with the brand's stated positioning: a watch meant to accompany its wearer through life's most memorable moments. Over time, chronograph-complication variants have joined the base version.

Key References Over Time
After 175 years of history devoted almost exclusively to gold and platinum dress watches, the Odysseus was a genuine change of course for A. Lange & Söhne: the most traditionalist name in German haute horlogerie taking its first step toward a broader audience and a more casual lifestyle.
