Model History
The Startimer Pilot Heritage line directly reinterprets the language of the observation watches (B-Uhren) used by German military aviation between the two world wars: a large, highly legible dial, black background, white luminous numerals, an orientation triangle at 12 o'clock, and a large crown designed to be operated even with gloves on.
The most representative execution houses a 44 mm three-part steel case with a domed sapphire crystal, a black dial with a military-style internal 24-hour ring — another typical trait of historic B-Uhren — and the automatic calibre AL-525, developed by Alpina on a Sellita SW200-1 base with a custom blackened rotor. A limited edition of 1,883 pieces symbolically ties the watch to the brand's founding year.
Alongside the automatic three-hand version, there are chronograph variants and versions with a more elaborate "Manufacture" calibre. Together with Alpiner (the modern sporty flagship) and Seastrong (the diving line), Startimer remains today the collection that most clearly recalls the aviation heritage the brand claims.

The 1,883-piece run of the limited edition is no coincidence: it's a direct tribute to 1883, the year Alpina was founded — the same spirit with which the brand likes to inscribe its history into production details, not just into design.
