O.H.M. L15

A vintage calibre left in storage for decades, brought back to life

Model History

The O.H.M. L15, presented in 2017, is one of the most direct expressions of Armand Nicolet's "Original Historical Movements" project: a program that revives vintage mechanical calibres left unsold in storage — so-called "dead stock" — instead of producing new movements from scratch. In the case of the L15, these are examples of the automatic A. Schild (AS) 1883 calibre, produced between 1967 and 1971 and never fitted into a watch in the decades since.

The brand doesn't just preserve the original 1960s look of these movements: it puts them through thorough restoration, replacing components when necessary and adding modern finishing — blued screws, decoration and polishing — while keeping their recognizable historic character. The restored calibre is renamed the AN0703A and made visible through a sapphire case back, a testament to the recovery work carried out.

The 39 mm case, fully polished with a shaped profile, was offered in five variants — three in steel, one with an 18-carat pink-gold bezel and crown, one entirely in 18-carat pink gold — in a series limited to 499 pieces overall, a deliberately small number consistent with the non-reproducible nature of the "raw material" from which every watch in the O.H.M. series is born.

Fun Fact

The "raw material" of the O.H.M. series — the stock of A. Schild 1883 movements left unsold since the 1960s/70s — is by definition non-reproducible: once the available stock of a given historic calibre runs out, that particular execution of the series can never be replicated identically again, unlike a normal production line.
