Clifton
Model History
Presented in 2013, the Clifton was conceived with the declared ambition of becoming the classic face of the maison: a round case with measured proportions, carefully shaped lugs and a sober dial that the brand describes as a tribute to the style of the 1950s gentleman. From launch, the collection has been presented as an indirect homage to Paul Mercier, the co-founder whose refined sensibility is part of the brand's founding narrative.
In 2018 the Clifton became the showcase for the most significant technical leap Baume & Mercier has made in recent times: the debut of the in-house Baumatic movement, developed to offer power reserve and resistance to magnetic fields above the industry's more common standards, with some versions certified by COSC, the official Swiss institute for chronometric precision control.
Over time the collection has expanded with complications such as date, day-date, moon phases and perpetual calendar, along with a quick-release interchangeable strap system in alligator or calfskin leather, also offered in a "patina" finish with colors that mimic the natural aging of leather — a detail aimed at an audience attentive to the artisanal care of materials.

Main Executions
The Baumatic movement powering the more modern versions of the Clifton is stated by the brand to offer resistance to magnetic fields up to 25 times higher than common industry standards — a technical figure that sits, not without a certain contrast, alongside the deliberately vintage and timeless aesthetic chosen for the model's dial and case.
