C-Type

The collection with which, in 2010, BWC marked its return to the contemporary Swiss watchmaking scene

Collection History

The C-Type was born in 2010, presented on the eve of Baselworld as the collection with which BWC intended to mark a relaunch phase after the long period of industrial reorganization between Switzerland and Germany that followed the quartz crisis. It is a collection designed for a contemporary audience, with both chronograph and three-hand proposals.

The range includes automatic chronographs based on the well-proven Valjoux 7750 calibre — including reference 20012.50.02 — alongside simpler automatic versions with the ETA 2824-2 movement, at an accessible price positioning compared to many independent Swiss manufactures, consistent with BWC's history as a brand oriented toward a broad audience rather than the market's most exclusive tier.

The C-Type today represents one of the most recent and least documented chapters of BWC's history, born within the brand's industrial reorganization between the Biel/Bienne manufacture and the German commercial headquarters in Pforzheim: the information available on its more recent production remains more limited than for previous decades.

Fun Fact

BWC presented the C-Type right on the eve of Baselworld 2010, for decades the most important appointment on the Swiss watchmaking calendar, no longer active today in its historic form.
