Model History
The Abyss is the first model ever signed by Cédric Johner, introduced in 1997 as the calling card of the newly founded brand: a free-form, sculptural case, devoid of the sharp angles typical of the watchmaking of the era, designed and shaped entirely by hand by Johner himself. Over the years the line has been enriched with different executions, from simple hours and minutes to a column-wheel chronograph, up to versions with a tourbillon and perpetual calendar for the most demanding clientele.
In 2025, for the brand's thirtieth anniversary, Johner reissued the original Abyss in a numbered series of 30 pieces in steel, with an anodized titanium dial and a crown hand-engraved with his initial "J".

Main Executions
In 2024 Cédric Johner reinterpreted the very case of the 1997 Abyss for Le Régulateur x Cédric Johner, made together with Louis Erard: the brand's first official collaboration with an outside house, which carried the hexagonal profile of the original Abyss's sapphire crystal onto a round, 39 mm format designed for a broader audience.
