Tsuyosa
Model History
Launched in July 2022, the collection takes its name from the Japanese term Tsuyosa (強さ), meaning "strength" or "power". The debut arrives at a moment when the segment of elegant, affordably priced integrated-bracelet sports watches, popularized in particular by the Tissot PRX, is establishing itself as one of the most discussed in mid-range watchmaking: with the Tsuyosa, Citizen positions itself for the first time as a serious contender in this space. The 40 mm steel case, tonneau-shaped, carries an integrated "president"-style link bracelet with alternating brushed and polished finishing, a design language that openly recalls the codes of 1970s luxury sports watches.
Behind the design lies real mechanical substance: the 8210 caliber, automatic and produced in-house by Citizen, 21 jewels, a 3 Hz frequency and a 40-hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire caseback. The dial, with a sunray finish and applied indexes, carries a date with magnifying lens; at launch four colorways were available — black, dark blue, dark green and yellow — later joined over time by numerous special editions, including the black-and-gold "Shore".
Unlike most of the Citizen catalogue, the Tsuyosa is an entirely mechanical line and not Eco-Drive, demonstrating the technical breadth of the brand. It has quickly become one of the cases most cited by trade press as proof that Citizen can compete, in design and mechanical substance, with European offerings at a far higher price: at launch the price was around 299 euros.

The name itself, "strength" in Japanese, has become part of the model's commercial narrative: trade press has repeatedly compared it to the aesthetic codes of luxury sports watches such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or the Patek Philippe Nautilus, noting how the Tsuyosa revives that language at a fraction of the price, alongside the Tissot PRX among the protagonists of the accessible integrated-bracelet revival.
