Collection History
The Hydrographer was born from the collaboration between Crepas and the OceanicTime project, and is designed as a genuine professional diving instrument: the number 1942 that gives the collection's best-known version its name is not a year, but the declared depth of water resistance, expressed in meters.
The steel case, available in various finishes (brushed, sandblasted or mirror-polished), carries a sapphire crystal 5.5 mm thick set above the bezel, an oversized screw-down crown (available on either the right or left side of the case), and a helium escape valve centered on the caseback, an element typical of watches designed for saturation diving.
The unidirectional rotating bezel features two notches on opposite sides, a distinctive detail that makes the Hydrographer instantly recognizable among the other divers in the Crepas catalogue.

The declared resistance depth, 1942 meters, gives the model its name: a direct way of communicating the professional ambitions of a watch designed more for technical use than for vintage aesthetics alone.
