Quai des Bergues
Model History
The Quai des Bergues is the first collection presented by Czapek & Cie upon the brand's relaunch in 2015, and takes its name from the Geneva lakefront where the house's historic atelier stood in the nineteenth century. The dial design draws directly on an original Czapek pocket watch produced around the 1850s, reinterpreted for the wrist: a small seconds at 7:30 and a combined counter indicating the day of the week and power reserve at 4:30, in a deliberately classic and symmetrical layout.
At the model's heart is the SXH1 caliber, a manually wound manufacture movement developed for Czapek by the Geneva-based workshop Chronode, able to deliver a seven-day power reserve — an uncommon technical feature that the brand chose as the calling card of its renewed manufacturing capability. The movement's finishing follows the canons of classic high watchmaking, with Côtes de Genève, hand-beveled bridges and sand-blasted surfaces visible through the sapphire caseback.
Over the years the Quai des Bergues case has progressively shrunk from the original 42.5 mm of 2015, passing through a 38.5 mm version in 2020 to the 40.5 mm that, from the early 2020s, became the reference size for new releases, a sign of adaptation to the proportions enthusiasts prefer today. Over time the line has grown with executions in rose gold, platinum and hand-enameled dials, as well as special pieces for the brand's tenth anniversary.

On the caseback of some Quai des Bergues examples is engraved the Latin phrase "Sursum Corda" ("lift up your hearts"), chosen to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the brand's revival: a symbolic nod to the spirit with which, in 2015, over a hundred enthusiasts from around the world funded, through equity crowdfunding, the return to life of a watchmaking house that had vanished more than a century before.
