Model History
Soho is among the longest-running and most recognizable collections in the DKNY catalogue, and its name is no coincidence: it directly evokes the SoHo neighborhood in Manhattan — the historic acronym for "South of Houston Street" — famous for its cast-iron lofts, which between the 1970s and 1980s were transformed first into artists' studios and then into a succession of galleries and fashion boutiques. It is precisely this meeting of art and style that inspires the line's aesthetic, described by retailers as a "bohemian" touch applied to an otherwise polished, elegant design.
Over the years the collection has gathered references that differ widely in size and materials: from smaller women's watches around 28 mm, with brass or steel cases and mother-of-pearl or silver dials, to larger 36-38 mm executions with slender Milanese-mesh bracelets, designed as versatile timepieces suited to both the office and an evening out.
Like all DKNY lines, Soho is designed, produced and distributed by Fossil Group under license from the brand: the movements are quartz, with no pretense of mechanical high watchmaking, consistent with a fashion positioning aimed at an international audience — Europe, particularly the United Kingdom and Germany, remains among the markets where the collection is most widely distributed.

The name "SoHo" is itself an urban acronym, "South of Houston Street": after the postwar industrial decline, the area was occupied by squatting artists who turned it into one vast open-air studio, before becoming one of Manhattan's most expensive and fashionable neighborhoods — a trajectory that neatly sums up the "street to runway" spirit DKNY has claimed since its founding.
