Sportivo
Model History
Sportivo was born alongside the very start of Emporio Armani's watch production, when in 1997 Fossil, Inc. began designing and distributing the first Armani-branded chronographs. From the outset the line aimed for a sporty-elegant register designed for a male audience: substantial steel cases, highly legible chronograph counters and an essential graphic layout, distinct both from the formal elegance of the Giorgio Armani line and from the younger, more street-oriented register of Armani Exchange.
Over time the name "Sportivo" has been reused across numerous later references — among them the AR0585, a 44 mm steel case with a black dial and a metal bracelet with deployant clasp, among the most widespread executions of the line in the 2010s — more than indicating a single fixed reference: a catalogue logic typical of licensed fashion watchmaking, where collection names survive across multiple generations of references, periodically updated in dial and strap details while keeping the same underlying sporty identity.
The quartz chronograph movement, produced to Fossil Group's industrial standards rather than through an in-house mechanical manufacture, remains consistent with the line's accessible positioning: a watch designed to complete a contemporary men's wardrobe, more than for the fine-watchmaking enthusiast.

The name "Sportivo" is among the longest-running in the entire Emporio Armani catalogue: introduced almost in step with the 1997 licensing agreement, it has survived decades of collection renewals while remaining consistently recognizable as the brand's sporty answer, even as most other contemporary lines have since been replaced or renamed.
