Tazio
Model History
Tazio sits alongside Sportivo as one of the longest-running men's chronograph lines in the Emporio Armani catalogue, distinguished however by a bolder color scheme: dials with sharp contrast (often white with a red seconds hand, or black with mirrored details), highly legible luminescent indices, and a date window placed off-center, between 4 and 5 o'clock, rather than in the usual 3 o'clock position.
As with many lines born within a licensing agreement, the name "Tazio" does not indicate a single reference but an entire family of watches renewed over time: among the most widespread executions are the AR5859 (white dial, white leather strap), the AR5892 (a sportier version on a rubber strap) and the AR6088 (two-tone case on a steel bracelet), evidence of a catalogue capable of adapting the same stylistic identity to slightly different audiences and price points.
Here too the movement is a quartz chronograph produced to Fossil Group's standards, the licensee that since 1997 has designed, produced and distributed all Emporio Armani watches: an industrial choice consistent with the line's accessible positioning, designed for a broad audience more than for the mechanical-watch collector.

The name "Tazio" also recurs elsewhere in watchmaking — Eberhard & Co. has dedicated an entire collection, the "Tazio Nuvolari", to the famous Italian racing driver of the 1930s since 1992. Emporio Armani has never publicly stated an explicit link between its own line's name and the driver's: a shared-inspiration hypothesis thus remains plausible but unconfirmed by the brand.
