Archival

Art Deco tributes that bring the brand's historical archive back to life with never-used vintage movements

Model History

The Archival Collection was launched in 2021 to celebrate 175 years since the founding of Fears in 1846. It was the reborn brand's first true "archival" exercise: a faithful reinterpretation, in both proportions and style, of a rectangular Art Deco watch inspired by models from the company's historical catalogue dating back to the 1930s.

The line's most unusual feature is its use of never-fitted vintage mechanical movements, so-called "new-old-stock": the two-hand version uses an ETA 2360 calibre manufactured in the 1960s, while the small-seconds version employs the rarer ZentRa 185/ETA 717 calibre, dating from the 1930s itself and therefore consistent with the model's stylistic inspiration.

The 40 × 22 mm rectangular case, with a domed caseback for improved wrist comfort, houses a champagne-coloured dial with a gilt border set deep into the dial itself. The launch edition was produced in a number of pieces chosen deliberately: just 175, matching the years elapsed since the brand's founding.

Fun Fact

The number of pieces produced was no coincidence: the 136 two-hand models correspond to the years the company was active, from 1846 to its 1976 closure, while the 39 small-seconds pieces recall the years that passed between the closure and the brand's 2016 relaunch.
