Senator
Model History
For decades the name Senator has identified the most classic and representative line in the Glashütte Original catalog, the one where the Saxon manufacture expresses its mechanical expertise through understated dials and elegant cases designed for an audience of enthusiasts and collectors, in direct continuity with the town's watchmaking tradition born in 1845.
It was within the Senator family that the Panorama Date (PanoramaDatum) debuted in 1997, the large date display with two concentric discs that would become one of the brand's most recognizable signatures: a solution able to show two side-by-side digits, separated by a razor-thin line, instead of the two separate windows adopted by many other manufactures for the large date.
Over the years the collection has expanded to include high-level complications — from the perpetual calendar to the tourbillon, from the chronograph to the multiple time zone of the Senator Cosmopolite — culminating in the Senator Excellence family, presented with the in-house caliber 36 and a power reserve of up to 100 hours, conceived as a synthesis of the mechanical expertise accumulated by the manufacture.
