Konstantin Chaykin
Brand History
Konstantin Chaykin was born in Saint Petersburg on November 23, 1975 and trained largely as a self-taught watchmaker before starting his own independent workshop in 2003. In 2004 he made his first table clock, and in January 2007 he obtained his first patent (RU2306618) for a mechanical indicator of the date of Orthodox Easter — the theme of calculating the Easter "computus," which would remain a recurring signature of the manufacture. In 2012 production moved to Moscow, where it is still based today.
International professional recognition arrived gradually: an AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) candidate in 2008, Chaykin became a member in 2010 — the first and, for years, the only Russian representative of the association — and served as its president from 2016 to 2019. In 2018 he won the Prix de l'Audace at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève with the Clown watch from the Wristmons series, while in 2020 he received the WIPO medal for inventors from the World Intellectual Property Organization. To date, the manufacture counts more than one hundred patents filed in its founder's name.
Konstantin Chaykin's output ranges from highly complex astronomical complications — such as the 2016 Moscow Computus Clock table clock, with 27 complications — to wristwatches with a markedly narrative and often ironic character, including the famous "Wristmons" series launched in 2017 with the Joker. Alongside his watchmaking activity, Chaykin also practices painting, a declared component of his creative approach to dial design.
