Memphis Belle
Brand History
Memphis Belle was founded in 1998 in Italy, between Genoa and Ivrea, by Alex Roman and Giovanni Panucci. The name pays homage to the famous B-17 bomber of World War II: the founders contacted Captain Robert Morgan, pilot of the original aircraft, in the United States to legitimately use that name and its historical legacy.
The brand specializes in military-style watches — mainly dive watches and chronographs, made with high-quality materials — and over time has forged collaborations with units of the Italian special forces, including the Frecce Tricolori and COMSUBIN, as well as with international special operations units. Among the episodes that accompany the brand's history, a Memphis Belle STS went with astronaut Roberto Vittori on a space mission in 2002, while in 2004 one of the house's models was used in support of a 202-meter diving record.
Memphis Belle is also the exclusive licensee for producing watches tied to the Decima Flottiglia MAS. Alongside military-diving collections such as Stingray and Militech, the catalog also includes heritage lines like Predator Heritage and entirely handmade one-off pieces, the Unique Limited Edition series.
