Type 2
Model History
Presented in 2020, the Type 2 introduces a different take on the dress dial to the Naoya Hida catalogue: in place of the Type 1's small seconds, a central seconds hand appears, while the Breguet numerals give way to Arabic numerals with a more markedly 1940s-1950s feel. The line's most distinctive element, however, is the architecture of the dial itself, built on three concentric steps in sandblasted and satin-finished German silver, which heightens the depth of the surface and creates the play of light and shadow that has become one of the brand's recognizable traits.
As with the other lines, each annual collection brings small revisions: the second execution, the Type 2B, adopts even numerals and hand-engraved hour numbers, while later updates slightly increased the case thickness to accommodate more elaborate movement and dial finishing. In 2022 the Type 2 was also the subject of a collaboration with the retailer The Armoury of Hong Kong and New York, a partner historically close to the brand's aesthetic.
The automatic Cal. 3020CS movement with 22 jewels, thicker than the Type 1's to house the central seconds hand, is finished in-house according to the same principles of artisanal care applied to the rest of production.

Main Executions
The stepped construction of the Type 2's dial, with its concentric circles that seem to carve the surface toward the center, is often cited by enthusiasts as the element that best sums up Naoya Hida's approach: a micro-manufacturing technical detail turned into an immediately recognizable aesthetic signature.
