Yachtman Club

The brand's sporty face, a direct heir to Paul Picot's long passion for powerboating and sailing

Model History

Paul Picot's sporting vocation was born well before the Yachtman collection: already in the 1980s the brand's chronographs accompanied offshore powerboat races, with crews reaching the podium several times in the Class 1 world championship, and in the following years the catalogue hosted diving lines such as the Plongeur N.1 (1987) and chronographs such as the U-Boot, both evidence of a growing attention to the sporting and maritime world well rooted in the brand's identity.

It was around the mid-2000s that this vocation found a dedicated collection: the Yachtman debuted with a sporty-elegant aesthetic designed both for life on board and for everyday use, and was continually updated in the following years — the Yachtman 3 arrived in 2011 with a refinement of design and proportions. The bond with sailing strengthened further in 2013, when Paul Picot became the official timekeeper of the ORC (Offshore Racing Congress) world championship aboard the TP52 Aniene, before relaunching its sports sponsorship more explicitly starting in 2018.

The line's most recent version, the Yachtman Club, was presented at Baselworld 2019: it keeps the original collection's aesthetic language but introduces a steel bracelet integrated with the case for greater wrist comfort, designed for use as much on a daily basis as on board a boat. The technical heart remains the PP1700 caliber, an automatic of ETA 2824-2 base finished and certified by the brand, paired with a 316L steel case water-resistant to 200 meters, with a unidirectional rotating bezel in sapphire and a date with a magnifying lens — a deliberately solid and no-frills technical setup, consistent with the line's instrumental-watch soul.

Fun Fact

In 2013 Paul Picot was the official timekeeper of the ORC world championship aboard the TP52 Aniene: a role that directly ties the Yachtman collection not to a mere surface sponsorship, but to a real timekeeping commitment in the world of offshore sailing, consistent with the brand's powerboating roots dating back to the 1980s.
