RM 07 — Women's Collection

The same extreme engineering of the men's catalog, reinterpreted for a female audience the brand describes as "ambitious, independent and fearless"

Model History

Richard Mille presents its first watch designed for a female audience in 2005 with the RM 007 Automatic: a catalog that, in its early years, remains dominated by genderless or openly masculine models, but which identifies early on in its ladies' collections a field in which to apply the same technical philosophy as its sports lines, rather than simply a decorative miniaturization of existing cases. The leap in quality comes in 2014 with the RM 07-01, the brand's first women's reference fitted with an in-house-developed automatic caliber, the CRMA2, with a variable-geometry rotor and a skeletonized, visible plate following the same principle adopted on the flagship men's lines.

Creative direction of the women's collections is entrusted to Cécile Guenat, daughter of Dominique Guenat and a key figure in the development of the brand's ladies' segment: under her guidance the RM 07-01 is offered in numerous variants, often built around Carbon TPT paired with 5N red gold, with some fully gem-set versions — such as the "Starry Night" edition, which is set with 181 diamonds worked with diamond-tipped CNC machines and hand-finished gold settings — and others played out on gold and Carbon TPT link bracelets with a contrasting material effect between polished and matte surfaces. In 2018 the women's line reaches its complication peak with the RM 71-01 Automatic Tourbillon Talisman, an automatic tourbillon entirely designed by Cécile Guenat, while in 2022 the RM 07-04 debuts, described by the brand as the first true automatic sports watch designed specifically for a female clientele.

Taken together, the RM 07 collections and the references linked to them reflect an approach deliberately different from that of most traditional women's fine watchmaking: less emphasis on the jewelry component alone and more technical continuity with the engineering of the men's sports lines, following a guiding line the brand sums up by describing its female clientele as women who are "ambitious, independent and fearless".

Fun Fact

Among the ambassadors the brand associates with its women's collections are actress and martial artist Michelle Yeoh and footballer Sam Kerr: a choice of faces that reflects the same "athletic" positioning as the brand's men's sporting partnerships, rather than the one typical of classic jewelry watchmaking.
