Iron Walker
History of the line
Presented on 25 May 2020, the Iron Walker is the third major line of the Wempe Glashütte i/SA manufacture and the first to break with the classic style of the Zeitmeister and Chronometerwerke, focusing on a sporty steel language with an integrated bracelet. At launch the collection comprised 16 models in four categories: a chronograph, a dive watch and two slim, elegant versions, one for men and one for women, with cases ranging from 36 mm on the women's versions to 42 mm on the chronograph and diver models.
The line's name and design tell a specific story, explained by managing director Bernhard Stoll himself: the inspiration comes from the "ironworkers", the workers who in the early decades of the 20th century assembled the steel frames of American skyscrapers without safety equipment. Hence the integrated 316L steel bracelet with three rows of links, with angular and rounded profiles recalling metal girders, and a rugged yet refined look, aimed at a more sport- and leisure-oriented audience than the brand's historic lines.
Like Wempe Glashütte i/SA's other collections, the Iron Walker also respects the manufacture's chronometric vocation: all movements, mechanical or quartz, undergo chronometer certification testing to the ISO 3159 standard at the Glashütte observatory, the German institute Wempe presents as the counterpart of the Swiss COSC. The line thus combines a contemporary look, far from the classic register of Wempe's other collections, with the same attention to certified accuracy that has characterised the brand since the days of Chronometer-Werke Hamburg.

Main versions
According to managing director Bernhard Stoll, the name and design of the Iron Walker are inspired by the workers who, without nets or harnesses, walked on the steel girders of American skyscrapers under construction in the early decades of the 20th century: an image of balance and precision that Wempe sought to translate into the collection's integrated bracelet.
