Pegasus
Model history
The Pegasus was born in the 1990s, when the company was operating as Wittnauer International after the end of its historic partnership with Longines: a time when the brand, less focused on the strictly mechanical side of its old aviator and chronograph lines, turned towards quartz dress watches, designed for everyday wear rather than for technical collecting.
In keeping with this approach, the Pegasus was typically offered in "his and hers" pairs: a men's and a women's version with the same look, often with a gold-plated case and a simple dial, sometimes enhanced with a mother-of-pearl insert on the women's versions. It is a line designed for discreet elegance and couples' gifts rather than technical performance, the polar opposite of the "extreme all-rounder" spirit of the AllProof or the competition spirit of the Professional Chronograph.
Unlike many of the brand's other historic lines, which have remained confined to vintage collecting, the Pegasus name is among those still present today, in revised form, in the brand's catalogue under Bulova/Citizen Watch Co. management: a sign of its identity as a line of dress watches rather than a piece of watchmaking history in the strict sense.

Main versions
Several vintage Pegasus pieces still circulate on the second-hand market today in their "his and hers" form: pairs of matching men's and women's watches, sold together as the typical couples' gift of the era in which the line was launched.
