Model History
The original Tinkler was presented in 1957-58 as one of the very first wristwatches to combine a quarter repeater with automatic winding and water resistance at the same time — an ambitious technical combination for the era. The repeater complication, however, was already seen as outdated for a contemporary wristwatch by the late 1950s, which sharply limited its diffusion: barely a hundred examples of the original were produced.
In 2026, at Watches & Wonders, Angelus brought the Tinkler back with a new execution faithful in spirit to the original: a compact 38 × 12.03 mm case in polished steel or 18-carat yellow gold, and the new automatic calibre A600, which, at the press of a button, chimes the hours with a single strike on a gong and the quarter hours with a double strike on two separate gongs.
The Tinkler's return consolidates, together with the Chronodate and the U10 Tourbillon Lumière, the dual register of the reborn Angelus: on one hand a faithful tribute to the brand's historic complications, on the other an exploration of a contemporary technical and aesthetic language.

When it debuted in 1957-58, the quarter repeater was already seen as an "out of time" complication for a contemporary wristwatch: it's precisely this contrarian choice, combined with the rarity of the few surviving original pieces, that has made the Tinkler one of the most sought-after models among collectors specializing in vintage Angelus.
