Model History
Marine Star is, together with Oceanographer, one of the longest-running diving-themed lines in the Bulova catalogue, but positioned differently: not a faithful reissue of a 1960s historic model, but a contemporary collection designed as an accessible sporty-elegant proposal, available since the 1990s-2000s in both men's and women's versions.
Across generations the line has alternated more classic round cases with faceted-lug versions and decorative details like false visible screws or "open heart" openings, while keeping one constant: water resistance suited to everyday use, typically around 100 meters. In 2019, Bulova significantly renewed the line's image with a new chronograph reference (98B301): a 45mm two-tone steel case, blue sunray dial, resin-insert bezel with vintage taste, and water resistance raised to 200 meters via a screw-down crown — an aesthetic closer to a true technical diver than previous generations.
Several Marine Star references have also been equipped with the Precisionist high-frequency quartz technology, combining the collection's sporty language with the brand's more recent precision ambitions. In 2025, for Bulova's 150th anniversary, the line was chosen for a new celebratory chronograph edition, confirming the role Marine Star continues to play in the current catalogue: a collection less tied to a single historic episode than Oceanographer or Lunar Pilot, but among the most constant and recognizable in the brand's commercial offering over recent decades.

Main Executions
Unlike Oceanographer, built around a precise 1960s historic episode, Marine Star was not born as a reissue of a specific model: its value to the brand lies precisely in its continuity as a collection always present in the catalogue, able to adapt over time to aesthetic trends without ever completely disappearing from the Bulova lineup.
