Model History
The PH200M began as one of the historic faces of the DS concept applied to diving, between the 1960s and 1970s, the period when Certina tested the toughness of its watches in a series of high-profile expeditions and research projects, from the Dhaulagiri climb to the Sealab and Tektite underwater projects. The domed plexiglass crystal, the rugged case and water resistance of up to 20 bar were, for the era, features of a genuine professional instrument rather than a simple sports watch.
In 2018 Certina brought the model back into production with a reissue faithful to the original design: a 42.8 mm steel case, a black dial with indexes and hands coated in Super-LumiNova for legibility underwater, and a domed sapphire crystal deliberately recalling the silhouette of the historic plexiglass, while offering the durability guarantees typical of modern materials.
Powering the reissue is the Powermatic 80 caliber, an automatic movement produced within the Swatch Group with an 80-hour power reserve, allowing the watch to keep running for over three days even when not worn. The result is a diver's watch that combines vintage aesthetics with contemporary technical substance, presented by the brand itself as a direct return to its roots as an expedition watch.

Main Executions
The letters "PH" recall the model's professional vocation for the underwater environment, while "200M" indicates its stated water resistance of 200 meters (20 bar): a way of naming the watch closer to the language of a technical instrument than that of a fashion product.
