Boy·Friend
Model History
Introduced in 2015, the Boy·Friend was born as a contemporary reinterpretation of the Première: it takes up its octagonal case inspired by the N°5 bottle stopper, but elongates it and makes it more angular, bringing its proportions closer to a men's watch worn by a woman — hence the name, playing on the idea of "borrowing" a garment (or an accessory) from the men's wardrobe, a styling move with precedents in Gabrielle Chanel's own history.
The model is offered in two main formats: a larger XL version, equipped with a visible manual-winding mechanical movement and small seconds, designed for a more watchmaking-savvy audience; and a smaller, standard-size version, with a quartz movement and date function, designed for everyday use. Both share a case in white gold or in the particular "beige gold" alloy developed by Chanel, with an alligator leather strap and a buckle shaped after the case's octagonal form.
Over time the line has been enriched with editions featuring a diamond bezel, tweed dials and skeletonized variants that expose the movement's mechanics, confirming the Boy·Friend as one of the most successful collections at translating the sober yet bold aesthetic of the contemporary Chanel wardrobe into watchmaking.

Main Executions
The name Boy·Friend openly recalls the "boyfriend style" expression born in fashion to describe women's garments with a deliberately masculine, oversized cut, like "boyfriend jeans": Chanel applies this tailoring logic for the first time to a watch rather than a piece of clothing.
