MT-G
Model History
The MT-G line debuted in 1999 with a concept summed up in its very name: "Metal Twisted G-Shock", that is the fusion between the stainless steel bezel and the resin components typical of the traditional G-Shock. It was the first time the brand systematically introduced fine metal elements on a watch still designed to keep shock resistance as its absolute priority, thereby opening a more refined and elegant segment within the catalog, aimed at an older audience less tied to the purely sporty or military imagery of the other lines.
In 2013, coinciding with G-Shock's thirtieth anniversary, the line underwent a thorough renewal that modernized its design and technical specification while keeping intact the original philosophy of fusing metal and resin. The path continued in 2018 with the introduction of a new internal case structure, designed to further improve shock management without giving up the metallic aesthetic that by then had become a stable feature of the family.
The most recent turning point came in 2020 with the "Dual Core Guard Structure": a two-layer structure that encloses a one-piece carbon shell between the bezel and the stainless steel central case, further increasing shock resistance while reducing weight and bulk. The most recent models add Bluetooth connectivity via the "Connected Engine" system for automatic time setting from a smartphone, sapphire crystal and solar charging, cementing the MT-G as an intermediate step between the everyday G-Shock and the MR-G collection, the absolute pinnacle of the range, made of titanium and produced in Japan.

Enthusiasts consider the MT-G a genuine intermediate step toward the MR-G, the brand's most prestigious collection, made of titanium in Japan: the line shows how G-Shock, while staying true to its philosophy of toughness, has managed to build a credible path into high-end watchmaking as well.
