Spirit of Big Bang

The barrel-shaped case that reinterprets the Big Bang DNA in a more tapered, ergonomic form

Line History

Presented in 2014, the Spirit of Big Bang was born as a variation of the Big Bang line on a radically different case shape: no longer round, but tonneau (barrel-shaped), slightly curved to fit the wrist better. The choice of a tonneau shape, less common in contemporary watchmaking than the round case, aims to give the model a bolder visual identity and an even more pronounced wrist presence compared to the original Big Bang.

While adopting a different case, the Spirit of Big Bang retains the Big Bang family's identifying elements: the exposed bezel with six H-shaped screws, the layered construction and the use of materials typical of the Art of Fusion — titanium, black or white ceramic, King Gold. The dial, often skeletonized, reveals the HUB4700 movement, a chronograph caliber derived from Zenith's historic El Primero (introduced in 1969), another brand within the LVMH group, suitably modified and finished for Hublot.

In 2017 the line was enriched with a version featuring a moon phase complication, based on the HUB1770 caliber, available in several vivid colors. Alongside these, all-black editions ("All Black") have appeared over time, with case, bezel and strap in ceramic and black rubber, taking the line's sporty, monochromatic character to the extreme.

Fun Fact

The HUB4700 caliber that powers many versions of the Spirit of Big Bang derives from the famous El Primero, the high-frequency automatic caliber presented by Zenith in 1969: a detail that attests to the technical synergies between the watchmaking brands of the LVMH group, of which both Hublot and Zenith are part.
