Androgyne
Line History
Introduced in 2010, the Androgyne is the first watch of the Manufacture Royale relaunched by the Gouten cousins and remains, more than a decade later, the model most closely identified with the brand's identity. The name alludes to the union of opposing elements — watchmaking tradition and a contemporary industrial design language — enclosed in a case made up of more than fifty distinct components, built as a small mechanical architecture rather than a simple container for the movement.
The MR06 caliber, developed entirely in-house, carries a flying tourbillon — that is, one lacking the upper bridge that would normally support it, so that it appears to float in mid-air — fitted with a silicon escape wheel and pallet fork and with components treated with blue PVD that heighten its dramatic character. It is precisely this openly "steampunk" design of exposed bridges and screws that established, from the very first model, the aesthetic code the Manufacture Royale would go on to apply to its later collections.
Over the years the Androgyne has been reissued in numerous variants — skeletonized cases, colored dials, fully customizable executions through the brand's bespoke program — while always remaining faithful to the original setup: a steel case, a visible flying tourbillon and a visual language that rejects any understatement.

Main Executions
The name "Androgyne" evokes the union of seemingly opposite elements: on one side the classic codes of fine watchmaking — the tourbillon, hand finishing — on the other an industrial, sculptural aesthetic language that, in 2010, was still fairly unusual for an independent watch manufacture.
