Aquis

The contemporary interpretation of the professional dive watch, the heart of the brand's diving collection since 2011

Line History

The Aquis is born in 2011 as a modern-key relaunch of Oris's diving tradition, which has its roots in the 1965 Divers Sixty-Five: where the latter keeps a deliberately vintage character, the Aquis instead focuses on a robust, contemporary case, rotating bezels with high-resistance ceramic inserts and watertight systems designed for professional use, becoming within a few years one of the most recognizable collections in the catalogue.

The line's technical development has been constant: in 2013 the Aquis Depth Gauge arrives, with a sapphire crystal 50% thicker than other models and an air channel that mechanically measures diving depth down to 500 meters, with no electronic component at all. In 2014 the Aquis Red limited edition debuts at Baselworld, with a dial inspired by marine conservation projects, while in 2015 the Chronograph variant arrives, introducing the caliber 774 and chronograph functions within the same sporty aesthetic. In 2017 the dial and indices of the Aquis Date are redesigned, with new high-visibility colors such as yellow and orange designed for underwater legibility, and in 2019 the Aquis GMT Date debuts at Baselworld, with a bidirectional dual-time-zone bezel.

In more recent years the line has progressively adopted the manufacture Calibre 400, antimagnetic and with 5 days of power reserve, while the Pro 4000m version has pushed pressure resistance to a professional level for extreme diving applications. The Aquis also remains the main vehicle for the "Change for the Better" environmental campaign: the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition, which has reached multiple editions (the latest presented at Baselworld 2019), directly ties the purchase of the watch to supporting real conservation projects for the Australian coral reef.

Fun Fact

The Aquis Depth Gauge measures depth with no electronic sensor at all: a small air channel connected to the outside of the case fills with water during the dive, and the pressure pushes an indicator along a graduated scale printed on the crystal — a purely mechanical solution, consistent with the brand's philosophy.
