Lunations
Model History
Lunations was presented in 2018 to celebrate the brand's fifteenth anniversary and reached the market at Baselworld 2019. It represents a technical turning point for Sarpaneva: after a decade and a half spent modifying Soprod A10 bases for the Korona line and other collections, the Finnish watchmaker here produced his first movement developed and manufactured entirely in-house, the Moonment caliber, hand-wound with 60 hours of power reserve.
The most striking innovation concerns the display of the moon itself: instead of a traditional mechanical disc, Lunations uses a laser-cut optical fiber window, behind which two luminous discs rotate and, passing through the fiber, project a continuous, luminous moon face onto the dial. The mechanism declares an extraordinary accuracy for a complication of this type: one day of deviation every 14,000 years, a figure several trade sources compare to that of high-end calibers such as Andreas Strehler's Sauterelle à Lune Perpétuelle. The case, 42 mm in diameter and 9.8 mm thick, is made of Finnish Outokumpu Supra 316L steel or 18-carat red gold.
Over the years the line has been offered in several executions, including the Lunations Eclipse, the Lunations Black Ruthenium (2023) and a variant with an Engraved dial; for some of these more recent versions the independent documentation available is limited, and the information reported here is based mainly on brand press releases and a few specialized reviews, consistent with the scarcity of sources typical of this niche manufacturer.

Main Executions
The declared accuracy of Lunations' lunar mechanism — one day of deviation every 14,000 years — is often compared by the trade press with that of the most sophisticated lunar calibers in Swiss high watchmaking, a notable comparison for such a small independent brand as Sarpaneva.
