Viro
History of the line
The Viro debuted in 2008, together with the rest of Union's relaunch as an independent brand within the Swatch Group, as the most streamlined and understated offering in the catalogue: a three-hander with date designed for everyday wear, deliberately less ornate than lines such as the Noramis or the 1893. A first update of cases and dials came in 2016, leaving the model's essential layout intact.
In 2025 the line was redesigned more radically: the diameter went from 41 to 39 mm, going against the trend towards larger sizes that has characterised many sports watches over the last twenty years, and the movement changed base, switching to a proprietary Union calibre, the UNG-07.S1, which takes up the ETA 2892 architecture but introduces a silicon hairspring and raises the power reserve to 60 hours.
The current version offers four dial colours — silver, black, ice blue and bottle green — on a three-link steel bracelet or black calfskin strap, confirming the Viro's role as the entry model of Union's mechanical range, more modestly priced than lines with complications such as the Belisar or the 1893.

Main versions
With the 2025 redesign the Viro's case shrank from 41 to 39 mm: a choice that goes against the growth in size seen in many sports watches over recent decades, bringing the line closer to the proportions of a watch designed for everyday wear rather than to make a statement on the wrist.
