Automatic Issue Field Watch
History of the line
Until 2016 the Weiss catalogue consisted exclusively of hand-wound field watches. The brand announced its first automatic watch in December 2016 and officially presented it on 28 February 2017 with the Automatic Issue Field Watch: a 38 mm case, four millimetres smaller than the manual models, aimed at buyers looking for the same field-watch proportions but with the convenience of automatic winding.
The chosen movement is an automatic calibre based on the Eterna Caliber 39, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 65-hour power reserve; Weiss pairs it with a rotor designed and made in-house, so as to keep an element of its own manufacturing even on a calibre not entirely made in the USA. Case and dials remain American-made, in continuity with the brand's other lines.
Aesthetically the model uses the same language as the manual lines, with small seconds at 9 o'clock and a dial available in blue, silver and black; at launch it was offered from $1,850, positioning itself as the automatic entry point to the Weiss catalogue and joining, from then on, the manual Standard Issue and American Issue versions as the brand's third historic line.

Main variants of the line
Although it was the first Weiss with an automatic base movement not entirely made in the US, the brand still chose to make the rotor itself: a way of keeping an American manufacture signature even on the most "hybrid" model in its catalogue.
