Weiss

Founded in 2013 in Los Angeles β€” today an independent manufacture in Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Brand history

Weiss Watch Company was founded in 2013 in Los Angeles by Cameron Weiss, who started the company with his wife Whitney after a two-year apprenticeship with certifications obtained at Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, between Switzerland and the United States. The first ten pieces were finished and assembled by hand in the Weiss family dining room, with more than 300 hours of work devoted to each watch: an artisanal debut that laid the foundations of a brand conceived from the outset as an independent American manufacture.

The most significant step came on 4 July 2016, when Weiss presented the Caliber 1003: a hand-wound movement designed, produced and assembled entirely in its own Los Angeles workshop, one of the very few recent cases of a mechanical wristwatch movement made on a small scale entirely on US soil. The following year, in February 2017, the brand also presented its first automatic watch, based on an Eterna calibre paired with a rotor made by Weiss.

In 2020 the company moved from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tennessee, to expand production while keeping it entirely domestic; in 2024 it also opened a studio with a boutique in Nashville. Weiss remains a company independently owned and run by its founder, who continues to build his watches by hand, with the current catalogue built mainly around three lines of field watches: Standard Issue, American Issue and Automatic Issue.
