Bremont

Founded in 2002 by Nick and Giles English — headquartered in Henley-on-Thames, England

Brand History

Bremont is born in 2002 through the will of brothers Nick and Giles English, whose passion for mechanics and flight is rooted in the upbringing they received from their father Euan English, a former RAF pilot and aeronautical engineer who over the years had also devoted himself to restoring vintage aircraft and assembling artisan watches. On 4 March 1995 an accident forever marks the family's history: during a training flight for an air show, the Second World War Harvard piloted by Euan crashes, killing him and seriously injuring Nick. Out of that tragedy is born, some years later, the two brothers' decision to create a watchmaking manufacture able to honor their father's aeronautical legacy. The brand's name is a tribute to Antoine Bremont, the French farmer who rescued the two brothers after an emergency landing made on French territory in the 1990s.

From its beginnings Bremont builds its identity on the meeting of Swiss watchmaking mechanics with British design, assembly and testing, summed up in the company motto "Tested Beyond Endurance": every watch is subjected to extreme trials simulating real flight conditions, from high-altitude depressurization to vibration tests equivalent to decades of use on military aircraft, to thermal shocks and the saline exposure typical of naval environments. All models are chronometer certified to the COSC or ISO 3159 standard. In 2021 the brand opens "The Wing" in Henley-on-Thames, a new production facility of over 3,200 square meters costing more than 25 million pounds, which allows it to bring increasingly broad production stages in-house on British soil, including the development of the proprietary ENG300 calibre, described as the first mechanical movement produced at scale in the United Kingdom in over fifty years.

In 2023 American entrepreneur Bill Ackman, through the company Hellcat Acquisitions, invests around 48.4 million pounds in Bremont, becoming its majority shareholder; in April 2025 Nick and Giles English leave the board of directors to take on the role of brand ambassadors, while operational management proceeds toward larger-scale production growth. The bond with aviation and the armed forces nonetheless remains the brand's constitutive trait, evidenced by historic collaborations with the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, Martin-Baker, Boeing and Jaguar.

What Sets It Apart

🛡️
"Tested Beyond Endurance"
Every watch undergoes extreme trials — high altitude, vibration, salt fog, thermal shock — borrowed directly from aeronautical and military industry standards.
⚙️
The Trip-Tick® case
A Bremont patent: the movement "floats" inside a shock-absorbing rubber ring, protected by a soft-iron Faraday cage against magnetic fields.
🪖
Aeronautical and military roots
Born from an RAF pilot's legacy, the brand has built direct partnerships with Martin-Baker, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, Boeing and Jaguar.
