Damasko
Brand History
Damasko was founded in 1994 in Barbing, a small town near Regensburg, Bavaria, by engineer Konrad Damasko, a specialist in developing precision metal components for the aerospace industry. It is precisely from this industrial background, rather than a family watchmaking tradition, that the brand's distinctive approach stems: applying technologies and materials originally designed for extreme applications to watchmaking.
In its early years, from 1994 to 2002, Damasko supplied hardened steel cases to Germany's Sinn, a connection that explains certain stylistic affinities between the two brands' pilot watches. Once that collaboration ended, Damasko developed its own independent catalogue, built around three main families identifiable by their initial letters: DA for three-hand pilot models, DC for chronographs, and DS for divers, each declined into numerous references over the years.
A key turning point in the brand's history came in 2014, when Damasko presented its first in-house designed calibers — the A26 family — reducing its dependence on the ETA and Sellita base movements used until then. Today the company, which has remained a family business with an in-house manufacture of about fifty precision machines (milling machines, lathes, EDM machines, lasers), also produces critical components in-house such as the EPS® polycrystalline silicon hairspring and ceramic balance wheels, maintaining the robust, precise and accessible instrument-watch positioning that has always characterized the brand.
