Farer
Brand History
Farer was founded in London in 2015 by four partners — Stuart Finlayson, Jono Holt, Ben Lewin and Paul Sweetenham — coming partly from a London branding agency and partly from the watch retail sector. The chosen name, Farer, echoes the English words "seafarer" and "wayfarer," summing up from the outset the brand's focus on travel and exploration, themes also reflected in the names of many of its models.
The brand debuted in 2015 with a collection of nine quartz watches; the following year, in September 2016, came its first three automatic models — Beagle, Hopewell and Endurance — fitted with the ETA 2824-2 movement and recognizable for their bronze-capped screw-down crowns, a detail that would become a recurring stylistic signature across many later collections. Since then the catalogue has grown to include more than forty references spread across several themed families.
Farer's operating model has design developed entirely in London, with production entrusted in Switzerland to the manufacturer Roventa Henex, based in Bienne. Sales take place directly, exclusively through the brand's own website, a choice Farer cites as key to offering high technical specifications — including a 60-month movement warranty — at prices competitive with other independent watchmakers.
